With a depression sitting right over south england, today's forecast was a bit weird, and in doubt until the last minute. Definitely mucho rain in the morning. Possibe strong E'lies as well? Then more rain in the afternoon? Or clearing up? And wind veering SW'ly? Or nothing? No-one could tell.

Basically, with a dodgy forecast and work to do I hadn't put myself in the sailing frame of mind for today. And when I woke to see 25mph+ E'lies but the foulest of foul weather my thoughts didn't change. But then around midday we had the wind veer to S...then SW....and soon it was nudging 20mph. I'd done some work, I needed some exercise, so that was it, off to Shoreham I went.

Arrived around 3pm. Had about 45 mins nicely powered up on the 5.9. High tide though so the lumpy crappy utter SHITEness of the water state didn't make it all that enjoyable, just difficult to sail and tiring. Wind picked up a fraction so came in to change down fins and whack on more downhaul. Had a chat with Basher and Garethh. Back out again, and first run waheeyy, perfect! But then...of course....the wind dropped.

FECK. Blob blob drift drift. The wind kept on teasing so I carried on trying, but to my cost, since although I occasionally got planing, overall I just kept on drifting downwind. So yet another shitty walk of shame. Wetsuit off and drove my car back downwind to where I'd left my kit, and cocksuckers the wind had come back up a fraction. After 5 mins of pondering, it was enough for me to get my wetsuit back on, but then of course it died again, ooohhhh windsurfing! Sod it I'd had enough by then so packed up and went home.

Short and sweet (er...not really) session. Good to get out and get some exercise, and it was sunny, plus the slighty unexpected "pleasant surprise" element, so as I type this I'm feeling reasonably satisfied.
